WHY A VPS
A home PC is fine for placing trades by hand. It is a bad place to leave an expert advisor unattended.
The server sits in a datacenter with redundant power and network under a 99.9% uptime SLA. A load-shedding cut or a dropped Wi-Fi link at home no longer closes your positions at the wrong moment.

Open Remote Desktop Connection on Windows, or the Microsoft Remote Desktop app on Mac, Android or iPhone, enter the IP, username and password. Our free RDP file generator makes a one-click connection file.
Inside the server, open a browser and download MT4 or MT5 from your broker's website. Install it as normal. Repeat for every broker you trade with.
Sign in to your trading account, copy your expert advisor and indicator files into the MQL4 or MQL5 folder, restart the terminal and drag the EA onto its chart.
Turn AutoTrading on and close the Remote Desktop window on your side. Closing the RDP window does not stop the terminal. Choosing Log off or Shut down inside Windows does, so never do that while the EA is live.

A forex VPS is a Windows virtual machine in a datacenter that runs your trading terminal all day, every day, while you connect to it over Remote Desktop from your laptop or phone. The terminal, the expert advisor and your open trades live on the server, not on your PC. A single MT4 or MT5 terminal with a few charts uses a few hundred megabytes of memory. That is why the 2 GB plan is the recommended starting point: Windows plus two or three terminals fit comfortably, and it costs less than most forex-branded VPS plans that only allow one. Move to 4 GB when you run four or more terminals, load many charts with heavy custom indicators, or keep a trade copier running alongside. The 8 GB plan suits traders who run strategy optimisations in the Strategy Tester while live terminals keep trading, because backtests use every core you give them. Upgrading later keeps your data and needs only a reboot.
Both templates are on the order form at the same price and both run MetaTrader without modification. Windows Server 2019 is slightly lighter on memory and a sensible default for a machine that does nothing but trade. Windows 10 Pro is the better choice if you also want a familiar desktop for browsing, spreadsheets or a broker web platform. You can reinstall with the other template from the client area if you change your mind.
The server is in Salt Lake City, Utah. It is not inside the New York (NY4) or London (LD4) broker hubs, so this VPS is built for reliability, not for the lowest possible latency. For expert advisors, copy trading, signal following and swing or day trading it is more than fast enough. If your strategy depends on single-digit-millisecond execution, a VPS colocated next to your broker is the right product and we will tell you so if you ask.
The most common support question we get from traders is why an EA stopped overnight. In almost every case the answer is that someone clicked Log off or Shut down inside Windows, which ends the session and closes the terminal. The correct habit is to close the Remote Desktop window only. Windows keeps the session and the terminal running with AutoTrading enabled until you log back in. Set Windows Update to install outside market hours, keep the terminal's auto-update off if your broker asks, and you have a box that runs from Sunday open to Friday close without attention.
