HOW TO USE IT

Connect in four steps

You only need the connection details provided with your Windows server.

    Enter the server IP

    Paste the IPv4 or IPv6 address of the Windows server. Include the port only when it is not the standard RDP port.

    Add the username

    Enter the Windows account name supplied by your provider, such as Administrator or a domain username.

    Generate the file

    Select the download button. Your browser creates a standard Unicode .rdp file on your device.

    Open and connect

    Open the downloaded file in Windows Remote Desktop, verify the server prompt, and enter your password when asked.

What is an RDP file?

An RDP file is a small text-based configuration file used by Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection. It can remember the server address, username, display preferences, and connection behavior so you do not need to enter the same basic settings every time.

This generator creates the standard .rdp format used by Windows. It does not create an .rdb file, because .rdp is the correct extension for Remote Desktop connections.

What the generated file includes

The downloaded file contains the server address and username you provide, along with practical defaults for a normal full-screen remote desktop session.

Before you connect

Only connect to servers you own or are authorized to access. Confirm that the IP address is correct, review any Windows identity or certificate warning, and never share your server password inside a connection file.

No. The generator runs entirely in your browser. Your IP address and username are not submitted to or stored on VPSLake servers.
No. The tool never requests or stores a password. Windows Remote Desktop asks for your password after you open the file.
Yes. Add the port after the IPv4 address, for example 203.0.113.10:3390. Ports from 1 through 65535 are accepted.
Yes. You can enter a valid IPv6 address directly. The generator automatically adds the brackets required by the RDP connection format.
.rdp is the official connection-file extension for Microsoft Remote Desktop. The similar-looking .rdb extension is not the standard format for opening an RDP connection.
Open it on a Windows device with Remote Desktop Connection installed. If another app is associated with the file, right-click it, choose Open with, and select Remote Desktop Connection.
