    Create a sharing link

    Press Create a sharing link. You get a short code and a link.

    Send it to the other person

    Copy the link or the code and send it however you like — WhatsApp, email, a text message.

    They open it

    When they open the link, the two devices find each other and connect. Nothing to install.

    Drag your file in

    Drop the file onto the box. You will both see how far along it is and how long is left.

Where your file actually goes

Most sharing services work in two steps: you upload your file to their computers, and the other person downloads it back off them. Your file sits on a stranger's hard drive in between.

This tool skips that. Once both browsers are open, they connect to each other and the file goes straight across, scrambled the whole way. We only help the two of you find each other — a bit like giving out a phone number. We never see the file itself.

Why that is better

A few things worth knowing

Only give the code or link to someone you trust — anyone who has it can join. Both people need to keep the page open until the file reaches 100%; closing the tab early stops it. And because files come straight from another person rather than from us, treat anything unexpected with the same caution you would an email attachment.

No. Your file goes straight from your device to theirs. It never passes through our servers, so there is nothing for us to store, read or hand over.
There is no limit we impose. The file is sent in small pieces as it goes, so size is limited only by your internet speed and how long you are both willing to leave the page open.
Neither. It runs inside an ordinary web browser on a phone, tablet or computer. There is nothing to download and nothing to sign up for.
Yes. Because the file is handed straight from one device to the other with no copy kept in between, both people need the page open until it reaches 100%. If either of you closes the tab, the transfer stops and has to be started again.
Some networks will not let two devices talk to each other directly. This is most common on mobile data and on office, school or hotel Wi-Fi, which are often locked down. The usual fix is for both people to be on ordinary home or office broadband. On the same Wi-Fi it almost always works.
A code lasts about an hour while the page is open, and stops working once you close it or press End share. If it has expired, just create a new one — it takes a second.
It is very unlikely, but treat the code like a key: only give it to the person you mean to share with, and press End share when you are done. Nothing is sent until someone actually connects, and you can see on the page when they have.
